DIY DOG LOVER BIRTHDAY GREETING CARD

Hello everyone! It has been a very long time since my lost post. A lot of things kept me busy and I had to battle some health issues that took my time off blogging. Today, I am back with a card that I would like to share with you, specially for all dog lovers out there. I used a stamp from My Favorite Things’ BB New Best Friend Stamp Set. I choose the cute little girl carrying a puppy and the sentiment stamp “Have a Pawfect Birthday“. It is perfect ensemble with my paw print background die.

Making this card is simple, what took a lot of time is preparing the paw print background. Aside from the background die and stamp set that I mentioned above, the materials that I used are the following: 110 lb heavy weight white cardstock for the card base measuring 8.5″x 5.5″ folded in half, Brown cardstock measuring 4.25″x 5.38″, light yellow and kraft cardstock for the paw print background, and a small teal cardstock for the sentiment. The tools that I used are: Big Shot Die Cut Machine, Memento Tuxedo Die Ink, Tsukineko Emboss Stamp Pad, Ranger White Embossing Powder, Ranger Glossy Accents, White Nuvo Drops and Touch Markers.

First, I die cut the paw print background on the light yellow and kraft cardstock. I made sure that the small pieces of hearts and the paw prints are still stuck on the paper or in the die cut as I will be using them to add more design in the background. Making sure that they are still stuck in the die or in the cardstock will help me identify where exactly they are suppose to be pasted. I glued the kraft cardstock on top of a dark brown paper. I then colored the small hearts with a red marker. As for the paw prints, I could have colored the paw prints just like the little hearts with a yellow marker but unfortunately, the brown color of the cardstock absorbed the yellow color so I made the tedious process of pasting each one from the yellow cardstock to the paw print spaces on the kraft paper using a craft pick.

After I stamped and colored the little girl with a dog, I decided to use a balloon stamp from a separate stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Die Ink, then I fussy cut the stamps. I also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in a teal cardstock. I used an anti-static powder from EK Tools to avoid stray bits of embossing powder in the paper.

To assemble the card, I used a foam tape to adhere the paw print background in the middle of the base white cardstock to add more dimension. I glued the balloon at the back of the little girl stamp and adhere it in the middle of the card using a tape runner. I placed small foam dots at the back of the sentiment and placed it below the little girl. To make it more interesting, I apply white Nuvo Drops on both ends of the sentiment and Glossy Accents on the balloons.
